Erie County is home to one of the nation’s most highly skilled workforces, which helps make Erie County ideally situated to support growth—Erie County workers are Up For the Job. The Erie workforce is proof that with a strong workforce, businesses can prosper.

The idea for a workforce marketing initiative, a precursor to Choose Erie, was developed by members of U.E. Local 506, the workers who build locomotives for General Electric Transportation. The leadership team recognized that manufacturers from across the country were busy trying to attract Erie’s highly-skilled workers, but Erie workers wanted to stay in Erie—a hometown with affordable housing and natural amenities.
